Languages and right-to-left

Everything Floor Walker adds to Flex is available in English and Hebrew, and switches to a right-to-left layout for Hebrew.

How a user's language is chosen

The language is set per agent on their TaskRouter worker, with the attribute language:

{
"language": "he-IL"
}

The plugin reads, in this order:

  1. The Flex localization setting, when Flex's own localization (beta) is turned on.
  2. The worker attribute language.
  3. custom_data.language in the Flex configuration, as a default for everyone.
  4. English (en-US).

The value default means "use the browser's language".

There is no language switcher inside Flex: change the worker attribute (in the TaskRouter section of the Twilio Console) and reload Flex.

Supported languages

LanguageCodesCoverage
Englishen-USEverything (the fallback for any missing text)
Hebrewhe-IL (or he)Everything
Spanish, Portuguesees-ES, es-MX, pt-BROlder parts of screen recording only; the rest is in English

Right-to-left layout

The layout switches to right-to-left for he-IL and for Arabic, Persian and Urdu codes. Use he-IL, not just he: with he the text is Hebrew but the layout stays left-to-right.

In right-to-left mode, Floor Walker's screens mirror their layout, drawers open from the other side, and dates and pickers use the Hebrew locale. The standard Flex interface itself is not mirrored by the Floor Walker plugin; that needs a separate Flex localization plugin.

Content in other languages

The interface language is separate from the languages agents work in:

  • Real-time translation uses each agent's own language list (translation_known_languages), not the interface language.
  • Dictation uses the contact-center language hints.
  • With translation on, each original and translated text is shown in its own direction, so Hebrew or Arabic text is right-to-left even in an English interface.
  • Holiday names in the business calendar follow the interface language.
